Obama investigations come in threes

September 21, 2011 By: MattSDowling Category: MSM, Obama

But the media won’t tell you that.

The Heritage Foundation’s Morning Bell recently reported how the Obama Administration is currently under investigation for the failed gun running plan, Operation Fast and Furious, and for crony capitalism with Solyndra and LightSquared. However, the media has aided the Obama by doing its best to ignore these stories. Does this mean there is new found grace in the main stream media? Well, yes… but only for the Obama and their liberal buddies.

Let’s just take a look at the failed Operation Fast and Furious. It resulted in a border patrol agent in being killed, 1500 guns have gone missing, 57 of these weapons have been linked to violent crimes in the U.S. and Mexico, and hundreds of people in Mexico have been wounded by these weapons. Outrages right? The media must be drooling over this! Not quite. Just see what Mike Brownfield uncovered:

“Save for recent reports from CBS News and the Los Angeles Times, and earlier reporting by ABC News, the mainstream media has largely ignored the story and the White House press corps has not bothered to ask the President or press secretary Jay Carney about the scandal since July 5 — that’s 78 days, and over 40 press briefings, without one single related question.”

Surprised?

Texas Blog Friday: The Right Side of Austin

September 16, 2011 By: MattSDowling Category: Don Willett, Jonathon McClellan, Texas Blog Friday, Texas Supreme Court, The Right Side of Austin

I recently had the privileged to spend a couple of hours with Texas Supreme Court Justice Don Willett this week. He is up for his second term for the Texas Supreme Court and has done exactly what strict constructionist judges are supposed to do. And that is to enact justice, uphold the constitution and protect our liberties. But why believe me when you can believe conservative columnist George Will. That is one of the reasons why I’m excited to highlight the blog post Texas Judge Provides Judicial Road Map to Overrule Obamacare from The Right Side of Austin for this week’s Texas Blog Friday.

Texas Judge Provides Judicial Roadmap to Overrule Obamacare

Texas is blessed to have legal scholars like Texas Supreme Court Justice Don Willett. Justice Willett was lauded by conservative columnist George F. Will for providing the judicial roadmap for overrulling Obamacare and for being an “engaged” Judge.

An “engaged” Judge like Willett is much different than an “activist” Judge like so many Judges on the left that have let laws like Obamacare stand. What is the difference between an engaged Judge like Willett and an activist Judge?  I will let George Will take it from here…

Last night’s debate was about Perry

September 08, 2011 By: MattSDowling Category: Reagan Debate, Rick Perry

The GOP presidential hopefuls and the MSNBC moderators shared the same view on one thing- this debate was about Governor Perry. A little more than I would have expected. Perry’s name was mentioned 25% more times than Obama’s and nearly double the amount of any other single candidate.

To give you some visual perspective, the word cloud shows how often Perry’s name was mentioned compared to everyone else.

Both the moderators and his opponents gave Perry a leg up in the number of times he spoke. The moderators gave him more questions and his opponents attacked him which provided the opportunity for Perry to respond.

How bored politicos spend their time

Below is a text message exchange that a friend passed on to me. If you’re a political nerd you should enjoy this, but if you’re not you’ll just think we are all crazy.

Jeff: Point of Order: Mondays Are Unconstitutional
James: The gentleman is correct
Jeff: I yield the remainder of my contempt and recognize the gentleman from Texas
James: Thank u Mr Speaker and I thank the gentleman from TN for his time. I would like one minute to state that Mondays are unconstitutional and not economical. I attended work today and they paid me for not doing crap. This happens all across America every Monday especially in small business where smart employees can get away with it. This is a bill both parties can support. Mr Speaker I yield the remainder of my time back to the gentleman from TN.
